This is an anonymous Qing-dynasty Chinese album, twelve scenes bound together. Each scene stands apart and yet continues as one binding. In this album I see the meaning of gathering. Each single leaf is only a small landscape, but when twelve are gathered they become a world embracing the four seasons and many scenes. So it is with the small scenes of each day. Seen apart they are trifling, but stacked one by one they become the long journey of a person. To gather is to grant meaning to small things.
