🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What does a landscape, with people drawn so small, reflect?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is an anonymous Yuan-dynasty Chinese landscape. Amid vast mountains and water, traces of people dwell, drawn small. In this composition I see the gaze of humility. In landscape painting, people are always small. The painter deliberately shows how small a place a human holds before great nature. Yet to be small is not to be trifling. There is, rather, a peace in living as a part dwelling within the great. When one knows one's own place, a person at last lives without contention.
