절이 있는 산수 (작자 미상)
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What did one come to seek in a temple set deep within the mountains?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is an anonymous landscape from the Yuan dynasty of China, holding a temple set deep among the mountain slopes. Between the mist-veiled peaks, a roof appears faintly. In this serene scene I see the wisdom of withdrawal. The temple came into the mountains to avoid the crowded places. By stepping one pace back from the clamorous world, there are sounds at last heard and a heart at last seen. To settle far within is not flight but a keeping of distance to face oneself. At times, one must withdraw to see more clearly.
