책가도 병풍
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What was in the heart that painted a cabinet full of books and kept it close?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

On every shelf, books, writing implements, and prized objects are stacked in good order in this chaekgeori. An unnamed artisan painted the wish of people who, even without an actual study, sought to bring the spirit of a study into the home. To render books as a painting is a declaration to take learning as part of the everyday landscape. In the heart that keeps a thing close by painting it, even when it cannot be possessed, there is an earnest longing to become so. The scene we yearn for is a portrait, drawn in advance, of the self we have not yet reached.
