아와지섬 원경
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What was the heart that painted an island floating dim and far away?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is Fujishima Takeji of Japan's distant view of Awajishima. The island does not draw close but floats faintly beyond the horizon. The details blur and only the impression of light and color remains. In this sense of distance I see the shape of longing. What lies far off is not distinct, and so it draws the heart all the more. A mystery that would vanish on approach dwells within distance. Rather than drawing near to see everything clearly, it is better to leave some things blurred and far; they linger longer in the heart. Distance turns a scene into longing.

🌱Apply It Today

Do not force something dim and far into clarity by approaching it; hold it in your heart along with its distance.
