Laying Roof Tiles

기와이기
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What holds up the one who climbs with heavy tiles balanced on the head?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

Kim Hong-do painted a worksite where tiles are being raised onto a roof. One carries them up the ladder on his head, one above receives and lays them one by one, another sights along an inked line to keep them true. Each tile is small, yet a single misalignment lets the rain through. In this painting I see that one roof, sheltering against the rain, is completed by many hands and by small tiles laid in exact order. Great protection is the layering of small care.
