At the Washing Place

🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"Why did the painter place a scholar peeking out from behind a rock?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

Painting women washing clothes at the stream, Kim Hong-do tucked in a scholar who has half-hidden himself behind a rock. The working women do not notice him, but we who look upon the scene can see every bit of his awkward posture. Dignified appearances and a heart that cannot be hidden fall out of step within a single frame. In this bit of humor I see that a person's true self surfaces precisely when he believes no one is watching. The very act of hiding already says something.

🌱Apply It Today

Quietly reflect on whether your conduct stayed the same today, even in moments when you believed no one was watching.
