DAY 318

Blessed Is the One Who Endures

James 1:12
기원후 1세기
ORIGINAL
μακάριος ἀνὴρ ὃς ὑπομένει πειρασμόν, ὅτι δόκιμος γενόμενος λήμψεται τὸν στέφανον.
📜 THE VERSE

Blessed is the one who endures trial; for having passed the test, he will receive the crown given to those who have proven true.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I only resent the test I face now, or do I see it as something to pass through?

📝Reflection

The Greek dokimos names metal proven pure by fire. James sees trial as such a test. The one who endures is proven, through the process, to be made of something real. The crown is not a prize handed from outside but the stature a person is shaped into by enduring. In ease, we cannot tell who is genuine. The one who does not collapse even while shaken — that is the one who has passed the test.
