Look Also to the Interests of Others
Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Paul does not say to ignore your own affairs entirely.
Was I so absorbed in my own affairs today that I missed the struggle of someone right beside me?
📝Reflection
Paul does not say to ignore your own affairs entirely. He says look to your own, but "also" to others' — widen your view just a little. The Greek skopeo means to watch attentively, as one aims at a target. We mostly stare only at the target of our own problems. Yet lift your gaze for a moment to look beside you, and there is someone struggling as much as you, right there. When I feel only my own load is heavy, in truth everyone is walking under a load of their own.
🌱Apply It Today
Even amid your own work today, ask one person beside you first: "How have you been lately?"
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
