The Book of Lord Shang
Are we clinging to old customs out of fear of change, or boldly establishing new rules for our lives?
📝ONGO's Reflection
When I first opened this book, I was struck by its cool, resolute grasp of reality. Amid the chaos of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, Shang Yang believed that only powerful reform and the rule of law could save the state. The law he speaks of is not merely a snare to bind people, but a tool for shattering old customs and raising a new order. Don't our own lives, too, sometimes call for such decisive cutting and rules? The gaze of this uncompromising reformer pierces the idleness within me.
"The wise create laws, while the foolish are controlled by them."Shang Yang, The Book of Lord Shang
"지혜로운 자는 법을 만들고, 어리석은 자는 법의 통제를 받는다."
