Laozi
What can I stop doing today, instead of striving to do more?
📝ONGO's Reflection
Laozi is said to have been a keeper of the archives. The five thousand characters he left behind carry a lightness only someone who spent a lifetime walking among books could write. His insight that we lose by grasping for more, and break by trying to grow harder, points in precisely the opposite direction from our age's anxiety that we must keep filling ourselves. Whenever I read Laozi, the tension drains from my shoulders. I feel given permission to leave something undone. Sometimes that permission is the very prescription we need most.
"He who stands on tiptoe is not steady. He who strides forward does not go far."Laozi, 道德經 第24章 (Tao Te Ching, Chapter 24)
🌱Apply It Today
Deliberately leave one of the smallest items on today's schedule undone. Then sit quietly and watch what rises up in the empty space. Emptying is not laziness; it is the most active decision of all.
