One Who Has Found Joy and Light Within

Bhagavad Gītā 5:24

📜 THE VERSE

One who finds joy within, rest within, and light within — such a one becomes one with the source and enters deep stillness.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I always seek joy, rest, and light outside, never once looking for the spring of them within?

📝Reflection

I read this verse as a climax singing the turn inward. The more one seeks joy, rest, and light outside, the thirstier one grows; but the one who finds them within is unshaken even when conditions sway. This inward road of seeking the self is the direction this song points to most emphatically. Here lives Emerson's insight of the Over-Soul, that the whole universe dwells within a person. When I tire of wandering outside for joy and rest, I close my eyes a moment and return to the spring already within.

🌱Apply It Today

If you wandered outside for comfort today, close your eyes a moment, hold 'rest is already within me,' and stay in that place.
