Parallel Lives
What small action determines a person's character more than their great achievements?
📝ONGO's Reflection
When I opened this grand record that pairs and compares the great men of Greece and Rome, what I saw was not flawless heroes but vivid, frail human beings shaken by error and desire. Plutarch reads true character not in the triumphs of vast wars but in the trivial jokes and small kindnesses they left behind. It is a treasury of wisdom that, taking the fatal flaws of those who moved history as a mirror, makes me question the direction and daily course of my own life.
"The most glorious exploits do not always furnish us with the clearest discoveries of virtue or vice in men."Plutarch, Parallel Lives
"가장 찬란한 공적이 반드시 가장 훌륭한 덕을 보여주는 것은 아니다. 오히려 작은 농담 한마디가 그 사람을 더 잘 드러낸다."
