DAY 46

Nothing Purifies Like Wisdom

Bhagavad Gītā 4:38

📜 THE VERSE

Nothing in this world purifies like wisdom; one ripened by long practice comes to find that wisdom within.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

When my mind grows murky, what do I cleanse it with — covering it with stimulation, or clearing it with learning?

📝Reflection

In this verse I learn what true purification is. A murky mind is not cleared by covering it with fresh stimulation, but is washed only by the wisdom that sees rightly. And that wisdom is not bought from outside; it is found within, at the end of long practice. Here the old faith that learning grows a person meets this saying that wisdom washes the mind's grime. When my mind is disordered, rather than covering it with stimulation, I choose to clear it by learning even one true line.
