Heart of Darkness
What lurks in the deepest parts of the human soul when the veneer of civilization is stripped away?
📝ONGO's Reflection
Following Marlow's journey up the Congo in search of a man named Kurtz, I shuddered at the savagery hidden behind the name of civilization. The "darkness" Conrad portrays points not only to the jungles of Africa but to the deepest abyss within ourselves. Can a human being keep to the good in a place beyond the reach of morality and law? That chilling, weighty question lingers long in the mind. It was a reading both terrifying and wondrous, a gaze into the very floor of human nature.
