🎬 TODAY'S FILM — IT ASKS THIS
The School of Rock (2003)
dir. Richard Linklater · USA
Pushed out of his own dream and seen as a failure, a man happens to hand children what he loves. Is it a stopgap escape, or a place where playing together in what one loves revives them both?
THE QUESTION THE FILM ASKS

Can one thought to have failed once stand again by handing what he loves to others?

THE CLASSIC'S ANSWER · ORIGINAL
志於道 據於德 依於仁 游於藝
📜 THE CLASSIC'S ANSWER

Set your will on the Way, hold to virtue, lean on benevolence, and roam in the arts.

💡 TL;DR

Confucius said to set the will on the Way but, in the end, to roam in the arts.

📝The Classic Answers

Confucius said to set the will on the Way but, in the end, to roam in the arts. What lies at the far edge of learning and life is not solemn duty but art one plays in joyfully. Even one the world deems a failure gains a place to stand again the moment he hands what he truly loves to others. Teaching is not something dispensed from above but a playing-together in what one loves. In that play, teacher and learner alike come back to life. I choose to trust the power of roaming, sharing what I love with someone.
